I’m sorry to interrupt your dash with such a weighty topic, but it’s been bugging me for days now. Actually, bugging is an understatement. I can’t even begin to describe how I’ve been feeling these last couple of days. And today at school, I was told by my teacher, that my beliefs were wrong. I was laughed at by practically an entire classroom for believing that animal testing is inhumane. The teacher did nothing to stop the laughing.

I’ve always known that animal testing and experimenting was a thing, and I’ve never believed that it was okay. But I had also never seen how severe it can really be. Recently, you may have seen a story on the news about the University of Wisconsin-Madison and what’s been going on in their labs for years now. They released pictures of the kinds of torture they’ve inflicted on their test subjects. The pictures are, naturally, gruesome, and I wouldn’t advise looking them up if you’ve got a weak stomach.

There are a lot of articles floating around; many of them are biased to one side or the other. If you want the specifics of the ‘treatments’ that were conducted, I do encourage you to look it up and form your own opinion.

Speaking of opinions, this is mine. I’m not asking you to agree with it, or to tell me why I’m wrong. I’ve lost sleep over this, and I felt helpless, so I’m trying to do something—anything. After you’ve done a little research, and have come up with a conclusion, you can decide which action to take. If you believe it is wrong and wish to do something to help end it, you can sign this petition and you can contact the school here. If you find the tests to be moral and humane, scroll on by. I’m not going to judge you either way.
